Enontekiö

Separated from the Swedish Jukkasjärvi parish and made a parish of its own in 1747. Became part of Finland at the time of the Hamina peace treaty and was merged in 1812 as a chapel parish with the Muonioniska parish. The chapel parish vicar of Enontekiö was appointed vicar of Muonioniska and an ordained cathecist was appointed pastor at Enontekiö. Just like the vicar, the cathecist served both parishes. The office of the cathecist was abolished in 1856 and Enontekiö got a chapel parish vicar of its own. When Enontekiö had no pastor of its own, the Muonioniska and Kittilä pastors took care of the official duties in the Enontekiö parish.
