HaapavesiHaapavesi was a chapel parish called Haapajärvi in the Pyhäjoki mother parish prior to 1675. As it had the same name as another former Kalajoki chapel parish and from 1838 the mother parish, its name was changed to Haapavesi when it was separated from the Pyhäjoki mother parish and made a parish of its own in 1863.
