EspooThe old mother parish, mentioned as early as the Middle Ages. Was a parish at least as early as 1413. Was a university prebend from 1835 to 1873. At least from 1801 had a chapel parish vicar, which office was abolished in 1859. Originally a chapel parish of Kirkkonummi, became independent in 1492. In 1950 Espoo was divided by language into two parishes, the Espoo Swedish parish and the Espoo Finnish parish. The Tapiola parish separated from the latter in 1960 and in 1963 the remaining parish was divided into three: the Kanta-Espoo, Etelä-Espoo and Leppävaara parishes.
